Position Overview

Our client, a well-established manufacturer serving the automotive industry, is seeking an experienced Mould Maker. This role is responsible for building, assembling, modifying, and repairing large-scale moulds based on engineering designs. The successful candidate will interpret technical drawings and transform them into precision, three-dimensional mould components while ensuring quality, safety, and efficiency standards are met.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble, fit, and test moulds to internal and customer specifications
  • Perform high-precision fitting and spotting of components and core-to-cavity work
  • Wire and assemble hot runner systems
  • Conduct mould try-outs, troubleshooting, and repairs
  • Document customer discussions, trial results, and non-conformance issues accurately
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Scheduling, Machining, and Leadership teams
  • Support continuous improvement and quality initiatives
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment (5S standards)
  • Travel within Ontario and internationally as required for customer support, training, or benchmarking
  • Cross-train in other departments to support operational flexibility
  • Provide training and mentorship to team members as needed
  • Follow all workplace health, safety, and environmental policies
  • Promote a culture of safety and accountability

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma (minimum requirement)
  • Trade or Technical College Diploma considered an asset
  • Tool & Die Maker Certificate (430A) is an asset
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in a mould maker role
  • Automotive industry experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of mould-making standards, processes, and tooling practices
  • Strong attention to detail and precision workmanship
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to plan and prioritize workflow independently
  • Effective communication skills for both internal teams and customers
  • TIG welding experience is considered an asset
