Lead Purchaser
About the Role
We’re seeking a Lead Purchaser to take ownership of all procurement and material planning activities. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Syspro MRP software, strong negotiation skills, and a background in manufacturing or heavy equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the complete purchasing cycle for materials, components, and parts.
- Build and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure quality, delivery, and cost efficiency.
- Negotiate supplier contracts and lead cost-saving initiatives.
- Collaborate with production, engineering, and inventory teams to align material needs with schedules.
- Monitor and forecast inventory using Syspro MRP.
- Evaluate vendor performance and implement purchasing best practices.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts within the supply chain.
Qualifications
- 3–5+ years of purchasing/procurement experience in a manufacturing environment (automotive or heavy equipment preferred).
- Proficiency with Syspro MRP software (required).
- Post-secondary education in Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field (asset).
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of mechanical and electrical components (asset).
- Must be able to work on-site in Centreville, NB.
