Job Description:

  • Personal and Contractor Safety.
  • Manages forestry operations and forest management. May include forest management plans, forest development, silviculture, harvesting, road construction, hauling, planning and wood sales/purchases.
  • Administration associated with job position (e.g. preparation of budgets, bid packages and contracts. Tracking and reporting of costs, and reviewing invoices).
  • Contract negotiation and implementation.
  • Liaison with customers , ministries and contractors.
  • Complete SFI documents and participate in SFI internal and 3rd party audits.
  • Maintain compliance with all legislation and Certification.
  • Assist Forester III and Area Forest Manager with budget development and forecasting.
  • Participate in provincial and trade association committees.
  • Coordinate and lead work teams.
  • Coordinate and lead special projects as assigned.
  • Manage direct reports.

Job Requirements:

  • Degree, diploma, or extensive operational background in the related field of work.
  • Minimum 3 years forestry experience.
  • Safety conscious, good planning , GIS, GPS skills and ability to coordinate resources.
  • Cost orientated, good communicator and good interpersonal skills, team player.
  • Knowledge of applicable forestry and safety legislation
  • Ability to drive in a variety of field and highway conditions,
  • Ability to operate a computer and supporting software,
  • Office and outdoor environment subject to elements of nature.
