Human Resources Manager





Job Description:

The Manager of Human Resources will work directly with the Partners, in conjunction with the Chief Operating Officer.

Specific duties and accountabilities of the Manager of Human Resources include:

·         Managing and overseeing human resources within the firm, primarily at the non-lawyer level, including:

- Recruitment, hiring and compensation

- Benefits administration and oversight

- Professional training and development, including new employee orientation and onboarding

- Retention strategies

- Performance reviews

- Talent management

·         Providing for all staff a strong and inspiring day-to-day leadership presence

·         Providing a first point-of-contact for staff on human resource issues and concerns

·         Maintaining and monitoring staffing levels and ensuring proper levels of knowledge-skills ­attributes within the firm

·         Cultivating the values of the company throughout the firm

·         Reviewing the firm’s employee rewards/recognition practices on a regular basis

·         Coordinating office procedures and staffing resources, and ensuring best practices in and between firm offices

·         Providing direction and interpretation to staff on firm policies, benefits and workplace requirements and expectations

·         Arranging and conducting interviews with potential new staff, and hiring and dismissing staff further to partnership direction and approval

Overall responsibility for long term planning, visioning, and ensuring alignment with market trends and changes

Job Requirements:

·         A university degree in a related field with training/course work in HR Management

·         A certificate in Human Resource Management or a CPHR designation is an asset

·         5+ years professional experience in a comparable role

·         Be results-oriented and have an ability of achieving in multi-office environments

·         A proven leader with demonstrated success in managing teams

·         Strong business acumen

·         Ability to travel between our 4 offices depending on business needs
